What Contractors Need to Know About Procore Marketplace Apps
Not all Procore integrations are created equal. Learn what to look for when evaluating marketplace apps, including security standards, API compliance, and data handling practices.
The Procore Marketplace has hundreds of integrations, from estimating tools to safety management to financial software. But not all integrations are built to the same standard. Here's what you should evaluate before connecting any third-party app to your Procore account.
First, check the OAuth scopes. A good integration requests only the minimum permissions it needs. If an estimating tool asks for access to your daily logs, photos, and submittals, that's a red flag. ProBidCore, for example, requests only budgets:read, budgets:write, and projects:read.
Second, understand how the app handles your data. Does it store copies of your Procore data? Can you delete your data if you stop using the app? Is data transmitted over encrypted connections? These questions matter for compliance and risk management.
Third, look for proper error handling. What happens if a sync fails? Does the app tell you which items failed and why? Does it handle budget locks gracefully? Does it retry intelligently or just dump errors on your screen?
Fourth, check for an audit trail. Any app that pushes data to Procore should log every action with timestamps. This is critical for accountability and troubleshooting.
Finally, verify that the app uses Procore's current API version and follows their developer guidelines. Apps built on outdated APIs may break without warning when Procore updates their platform.
